2011 is shaping up to be a big year of poetry for me. First up, I’m happy to be one half of Brisbane New Voices II, along with Speedpoets stalwart John Koenig. Our two micro-collections, edited by Graham Nunn, are launching at Riverbend Books on Tuesday 22 February 2011. My half, called Bashed Flat by Heaven–a phrase I stole from the Japanese haiku poet Santoka–features seven new poems.
Looking forward to this one–details below.
Queensland Poetry Festival, QLD Writers Centre & Riverbend Books are proud to present the first event in the Riverbend Poetry Series for 2011. Join us on the Riverbend deck as we showcase an exciting mix of local and interstate poets to kick start the year. The February event features the sonic experimentation of avant-garde poet/musician Pascalle Burton (A Vast Laugh, Small Change Press), the multi-award winning words of Alan Wearne (The Popular Australian Songbook, Giramondo Press) and the launch of Brisbane New Voices II, featuring the debut micro-collections of local poets John Koening (Green Tea & Nicorette) and Chris Lynch (Bashed Flat by Heaven). And as the event falls on the death of Andy Warhol, there will also be a special reading of poems by Gerard Malanga dedicated to Warhol.
